MESSAGE FROM THE GODS

Message from the Gods - Fisher gig poster

Music set to the wonderful poetry of Maya Angelou, Pablo Neruda, Frida Kahlo, Kahlil Gibran, Kate Tempest, Leonard Cohen, Lorca and W H Auden

Keith's profound new Album has been met with huge enthusiasm from UK Radio Stations, the music press and followers across the country and will no doubt be considered to be his best collection yet. It continues to expose his unique skill of setting poetry to music and arriving at stunningly beautiful results. Each of these poems take on a new life as a song, they resonate deeply and instinctively and show the vital importance of personal connection, both on an intimate and universal level. Caged Bird - Maya Angelou and If you forget me - Pablo Neruda are stand out moments.

The Songs of Leonard Cohen

Songs of Leonard Cohen - Tolbooth Poster

This wonderful Tower of Songs - stripped back and desolate

Enigmatic and sub textural, songwriter Leonard Cohen was an unflinching character, with an exact sense of prose, a wry humour and courage to wrestle with the unspoken, forgiving human frailty with the brush of each line.

His music befriended an entire generation and so the announcement of his passing has truly marked the end of an era. He challenged us to listen more carefully, speak more thoughtfully, think more deeply and recognize our own humanity.. A Man of Grace. This world will miss him very much..

With a reputation of performing in this exact way and with an undying love of the 'pure song' Keith James gives you a concert of Cohen's amazing material in an intimate and sensitive style, exposing the solitary inner strength of his greatest songs in their original perfect form.

Amongst a concert of Cohen's well known songs, including Famous Blue Raincoat, Sisters of Mercy, Suzanne and Hallelujah are also poems by Federico Garcia Lorca that Keith James has set to music. Lorca is said to be Cohen's greatest influence. Additionally, songs from Leonard Cohen's Album 'You want it Darker' released only 10 days before his death - produced by his son, Adam..

'Some of the most atmospheric and emotive music you will ever hear'  The Independent

THE BEST OF KEITH JAMES. Keith will be performing songs from his acclaimed new Album MESSAGE FROM THE GODS along with a collection of Keith's own songs plus those by Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, John Martyn, Lorca and Dylan Thomas. New Album MESSAGE FROM THE GODS A profound and dramatic album of significant modern poetry settings by Maya Angelou, Frida Kahlo, Kahlil Gibran, Kate Tempest, Pablo Neruda, W H Auden, Lorca and Leonard Cohen. This new Album, his 15th record release, will no doubt be considered to be his most profound to date. Here he has chosen what he believes to be some of the most significant, relevant and wonderfully written modern poetry: Maya Angelou, Frida Kahlo, Kahlil Gibran, Kate Tempest, Pablo Neruda, W H Auden, Lorca and Leonard Cohen. The Album is entitled MESSAGE FROM THE GODS and is dedicated to our collective human need to rediscover the pathway of emotional connection, against the current backdrop of leaping advancement in high tech communication; realising that our underwritten wish to be charitable and understanding and our instinctive sense of regard for our own vulnerable fragility is present somewhere within us all. 'Effortlessly beautiful. The silver streak of Keith James continues. A fine Album indeed' Paul Jackson - FATEA 'This is class material performed in an exemplary fashion. Highly recommended' David Harley - Folking.com 'Fearless!
